Cinema மினிமா's Movie Review on 'Thillu Mullu'

Cast: 'Mirchi' Shiva, Isha Talwar, Prakash Raj, Kovai Sarala, Manobala, Santhanam [Cameo]
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Cinematography: Lakshmanan
Direction and Screenplay: Badree

'Mirchi' Shiva, who is always known for delivering the necessary timing comedy which the audience expects, Joining with the legendary actor Prakash Raj that too in the remake of well renowned 'Super star' Rajinikanth's Thillu Mullu, had a decent expectation from the audience. Lets see whether its worth the hype.

'Mirchi' Shiva has done a great job as Pasupathy and Kandhan Ganguly and also fits very much accurately for both the roles. He introduces with a pen name 'அகில உலக Super Star' and he also makes the audience to laugh till the end of the movie. Prakash Raj delivers his as usual goods. Debudant, Isha Talwar comes with lots of make up and struggles with her expressions. [யப்பா உங்களுக்கு வேற ஹீரோயினே கிடைக்கலயா??]

Sathyan comes in for very few scenes who is not at all needed for the story is concerned about. Kovai Sarala and Manobala also have a small role to do. They do justice to their roles by providing grand entertainment.

Yuvan shankar Raja shows his class in 'Thillu Mullu', 'Kaipesi' and 'Ragangal 16' songs. He could have taken care of the Background ground score. Cinematographer Lakshmanan does a good job with his camera. Editors Praveen and Srikanth should have commited lots of blunders in many scenes. [Eg: சென்னைல நடக்குற IPL மேட்ச்ல மும்பை stadium ah காட்டுறது]. There are lots of places where the lip sync does not match for the heroine.

Positives:
  • Mirchi Shiva
  • Prakash Raj
  • Kovai Sarala
Negatives:

There are lots of negatives. Still a few to be listed are:
  • Isha Talwar
  • Logicless Screenplay
  • Dragging Climax
  • Unwanted Songs
Director Badree should improvise his screeplay making skills, that too while making remake films, to come up as a great director. Though this is not a bad attempt with screenplay, comparing its original 'Thillu Mullu' that got released in 1981, the newer version is just below the par level.

RATING - 4 /10 [Definetely Not worth the hype]
