Cinema மினிமா's Movie Review on 'Raja Rani'

Cast: Arya, Nayanthara, Jai, Nazriya Nazim, Santhanam, Sathyaraj
Music: G.V.Prakash Kumar
Cinematography: George.C.Williams
Written and Directed by: Atlee

Raja Rani had a great expectation right from the earlier stage owing to the joint venture of  'ARM Productions' and 'Fox Star Studios'. The trailer that was released during the Audio Launch of this movie raised the expectations further. Lets see whether the movie has lived upto its expectations

Cast and Crew:
Arya as John has shown some wonderful stuff in this movie. He shows all the mixed Reactions [Love, Pain, Frustration, Happiness] in his face pretty fantastically. His dialogue delivery is also pretty good. Nayanthara as Regina has the same role like Arya. Its definitely a great comeback for her. She has given such a beautiful performance in this movie. In the scenes wherein she makes fun with Jai, loves Jai , Cries for him, again while marrying Arya, Hatred life with Arya - Oh my god! she portrays all the expressions wonderfully. She has lived up to that role of Regina.

Jai plays a pretty innocent character, which reminds his past work, 'Engaeyum Eppothum'. He makes the crowd to burst into laughter in combination with Sathyan. Equally, he gives in a hard feel to everyone during the climax. A short, but a great role for Jai. Nazriya Nazim as Keerthana looks pretty cute. Rite from her 'Ringa Ringa' introduction, she shows some wonderful and lovely face reactions. She could have avoided over make-up in few scenes. Nazriya also has a small role, But she leaves a big and very heavy Impression to everyone who watch the movie. Other characters like Sathyaraj, Santhanam and Sathyan have done their as usual works very perfectly.

Cinematography, Music and Editing:
Cinematography by a debudant, George.C.Williams. His camera work is mind boggling. The variations between different periods has been handled by him pretty wonderfully. Definitely, he will be a man to watch out for in his future movies. Music by G.V.Prakash Kumar is a big asset for the movie. Songs are all lovely to hear. The background score is fantastic. He has put in a great effort to portray Comedy, Action, Pain and Frustration just by his Background music. Editing is done by Roopan. He has also done justice to his work.

Story, Dialogues and Direction:
Atlee, a former associate of shankar has written and directed the movie. The story line which he has chosen is 'There is love after love failure. There is life after love failure'. His dialogues are pretty perfect and crystal clear. Few dialogues leave a deep impression in our heart.  Though it is his first film he has scripted a screenplay which keeps the audience engaged till the end of the movie. It make everyone to laugh, feel and cry. That is his success. Definetely Director Shankar will feel proud of his Associate.

Atlee should have explained why Jai leaves Nayanthara still more clearly. He could have portrayed the Love sequence between Arya and Nazriya with some more scenes depicting their love and also by reducing some unwanted scenes with 'Nan Kadavul' Rajendran. These minor mistakes also doesnot stop you from loving this movie.

This is one such a movie that makes every person to love their life and their wife [Those who are married]. Such a wonderful movie this is. What I would reckon is, Each and everyone should go and watch this movie in theater and support such amazing works by directors, which would bring in more and more creative works like this. Kudos to the entire Raja Rani team!
